Examiner 07-21-2009: Pope calls for One World Government

On July 8, the Vatican released a new encyclical (i.e., a letter from the Pope to church leaders dealing with various aspects of Catholic doctrine), entitled "Charity in Truth." In it the Pope calls for a "true world political authority" or what some may refer to as a one world government. According to an article posted by The NewAmerican.com, the Pope also calls for the reform of the United Nations, economic institutions and international finance in order that "the concept of the family of nations can acquire real teeth (emphasis added)." It now appears that the Vatican is joining in with groups such as the Council on Foreign Relations, the Bilderbergers, and the Trilateral Commission, in its call for a new world order.

According to Daniel chapters 2 and 7, there is a coming world empire that will dominate the whole world and be led by a man known as the Anti-Christ. Revelation 13:7 states that "...power was given him [the Anti-Christ] over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations." The whole idea of a one world government has been in the works for decades but we are starting to see signs of its impending arrival more and more. It won't be too much longer before we see the prophecies of Daniel and Revelation come to life right before our eyes.

Here are just a few reasons why I believe we are going to see the formation of a one world governmental system sooner rather than later.

  There are talks to bring the nations of the world into larger unions, such as we see with the European Union. Consolidations of power into regions such as the North American Union, African Union, and the South Asian Union, are on the horizon.

  Several influential countries, namely Russia and China, have spent months urging the nations of the world to drop the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency and implement a one world currency, culminating in Russia's President unveiling the new one world coin earlier this month.

  With the help of satellite technology, computer chips, and perhaps even social networking sites, the world's elite have every opportunity to track all human beings on the face of the planet.

It's not hard to see that the world we live in is moving toward unification at a breakneck pace. We are told that world unification will bring peace, understanding, and greater prosperity (which may be true in a perfect world) but unfortunately, the Bible shows us that a one world system headed up by sinful man will only bring destruction and confusion (check out the story of the Tower of Babel) and ultimately the end of the world as we know it. The clock is quickly winding down to the final chapter in history. Are you ready?
